WISE & Healthy Aging hosted their Celebration of Caring event May 20 at Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey. City of Santa Monica Mayor Ted Winterer was on hand to present the Caring for Our Community Award to Fred Deni.
For more than 40 years, local restaurateur Deni has donated, prepared and served Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings to homeless families and seniors in Santa Monica. “That’s more than 15,000 meals so far, and he’s already planning for the 300-plus meals that he and his staff and community volunteers will provide this November at his restaurant Back on Broadway,” organizers said.
