Santa Monica Auctions to Host Live Art Auction May 6

Santa Monica Auctions, located at Bergamot is pleased to present the next upcoming installment of Santa Monica Auctions Live Public Art Auction on Sunday, May 6th starting at 1:00pm PST. Originally founded in 1984 by artworld icon and gallery owner, Robert Berman, Santa Monica Auctions caters to the local and international art community with classical museum pieces, elevated street art, and unexpected contemporary gems. The works will be available for purchase to attending guests and also online through Liveauctioneers.com and BidSquare.com starting mid‑April.

Known for displaying an arsenal of rare works through an array of genres, Santa Monica Auctions has become a go‑to staple for art lovers to collectors as  the  salon  of  available  art  for  purchase  encompasses masterful pieces by artists of our past through present  day.  The  upcoming  auction  will  feature  prized works from Ed Ruscha, Frank  Stella,  Shepard Fairey, Ed Moses, Francis Bacon, Patrick Nagel, Carlos Almaraz, David Choe, Robert Longo, Alex Prager, Robert  Heinecken,  Philip  Guston,  WEEGEE  (Arthur Fellig), Keith Haring, Nicole Eisenman, David Hockney, Craig Kaufman, Paul Jenkins, Ernest Trova, and many more.

Some of the highlighted works include Francis Bacon, Study for a Bullfight, No. 1 is a signed edition featured on Lithograph on Arches depicts the condition of a human struggle through the parable of a bullfight; Ed Moses’ Vinca; and Shepard Fairey Peace Goddess Mural on a double sided, three part wooden panel is a featured figure in the influential street artist’s work as her all‑seeing eyes make for a dynamic piece.
