By Santa Monica Mirror Staff Writer

After their first week of school, kids in Santa Monica will be looking for some serious fun this weekend and the 7th Annual Cardboard Yacht Regatta at the Annenberg Community Beach House certainly fits the description of fun.

The event, which takes place Saturday, August 25 from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the historic Annenberg Community Beach House pool, will feature two-person teams paddling and racing handmade cardboard yachts across the length of the pool. The regatta will test the seaworthiness of these yachts, which can only be made out of cardboard and duct tape.

After the race, there will be an award ceremony that will begin at 9 p.m. In addition to handing out awards for first, second and third place, awards will be given for Fanciest Yacht, Most Likely to Sink, Most Spirited Crew and People’s Choice. Learn more at annenbergbeachhouse.com
