4 Tips on How to Succeed in Life

We all want to be successful in our lives, in our careers, and in our passions but sometimes we do not know how to make that happen. Sometimes the daily challenges that come from each of these areas in our lives leave us feeling like we are Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, far far away from home. We do not have to stress through because like Dorthy there are several ways for us to click our heels three times and find a place of calm.

Realize You Do Not Have to Do It Alone

Often our stress comes from the fact that we feel like we have to do everything on our own. It is important that we remember that there are many individuals and organizations that can help us in each and every area of our lives. In our lives we might need to reach out to friends and family and ask for the support we need. In our careers we might need to allow someone else to do the parts we don’t have the time or energy for, such as using shipping consulting if we do a lot of shipping or using a job platform if we need help hiring qualified candidates. With our passions we might need to reach out to others who share our passions either in person or virtually so that we can share the joys of our successes and share the sorrow of our challenges. No matter what area of our lives we want to succeed in we never need to do it alone and knowing we have support will make the processes of making our dreams come true that much easier.

Create Structure for Yourself

It has been shown over and over again that structure is helpful no matter who we are or what we are doing. If we want to do yoga each morning having our mat out and our favorite yoga video cued up will make it more likely we will succeed. If we are writers or bloggers creating structure around when we will write and where we will write is helpful. If we want to eat healthier, creating structures that keep junk food out of our home or having healthy treats like veggies to mindlessly eat will help us look and feel our best. Sometimes structure can be as simple as marking the end of our work day with a relaxing cup of tea and some good music so our bodies and minds know that we are switching to a new period of time. While the amount of structure that will be most helpful will depend on each individual, everyone can benefit from having some type of structure in their lives.

Work-life Balance

There is a lot of talk about work-life balance and its benefits for us all. It is important that we are able to recognize that there is no magic work-life balance that will work for us all. In truth in different seasons of our life what feels like balance will change. Sometimes we find we need to focus on our families, other times we need to focus on work, and still other times we have to focus on our passions. It is not about having a magic formula of what percentage of our day we spend on each part of our life, instead it is about making sure we are aware of where our time and energy is going and if where it is going is where we want it to go. No one else can tell us if our life is in balance.

Self Care

Finally if we want to succeed in life and be able to be the best version of ourselves we can be, we have to make sure we take care of ourselves. Self care can look like eating nutritious food, doing yoga, going for a walk or taking a nice shower with some nicely scented body wash. It does not matter what self care looks like for us, what matters is we take time to center ourselves and care for our bodies, minds, and spirits. If we do not take the time to care for ourselves we will find we do not have the energy to be at our best.
