Popular plant-based pop-up opening brick and mortar

A popular Ethiopian pop-up restaurant will soon open a brick-and-mortar location near the Third Street Promenade.
The restaurant is called Berbere by T&T Lifestyle created by husband-and-wife owner Tezeta “Tete” Alemayehu (from Addis Abba, Ethiopia) and partner Tsega-Ab “Bicko” Fenta. According to Eater LA, the menu is a mixture of Ethiopian staples and vegan items, including items such as their tofu-based enkulal firfir scramble, Injera plate and grilled cauliflower burger.
The restaurant is familiar to many Los Angeles residents because of its time spent at LA Smorgasborg. During the pandemic with Smorgasbord closed, Berbere was still keeping customers fed via a ghost kitchen. Since Smorgasborg’s reopening, the restaurant has made its way back to the market serving a limited menu until their official location opens in Santa Monica.
The new brick-and-mortar location, located at 510 Santa Monica Boulevard is projected to open in late summer. While customers can still expect an all-vegan menu format, the social media page of the restaurant does hint at new menu items. An Instagram post showing off a sauce-covered dessert reads ” NEW ITEM (alert emoji) for Chocolate, Almond Butter, Café, Ice Cream, and Mint LOVERS “. Another post with glazed fruit was posted with the caption “new recipe for our new location.”
