Santa Monica Police Increase Patrols Near Places of Worship Amid International War Conflicts

Department says no credible threats to city but is coordinating with federal, state partners.

Santa Monica police said Feb. 28 they are conducting extra patrols near places of worship, cultural institutions and community gathering spots out of caution following recent international events.

The Santa Monica Police Department said in a statement there are no known credible threats to the city at this time. Officers are maintaining heightened visibility while staying in contact with regional, state and federal partners for updates.

“These patrols are intended to provide visibility and reassurance while we continue to monitor information as it becomes available,” the department said.

Police urged residents to stay aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity.
