Everything You Need for a Santa Monica Wellness Getaway

Has life got you feeling more stressed out than usual? Are you physically or emotionally overwhelmed and in need of a break? If so, a wellness retreat could be the answer. Though it won’t solve all your problems, a health-focused getaway is an opportunity to escape the daily norms and reset. Ultimately, when you take time to care for your mind and body, you put yourself in a better position to handle the ups and downs of everyday life.

Never planned a wellness getaway before? Continue reading for suggestions to ensure your therapeutic excursion goes off without a hitch.

Choose A Peaceful Destination

The first step is figuring out where you’re going to visit. Though the options are endless, it’s best to stick to destinations with a peaceful and serene environment. Think about a “happy place.” It’s a place you might like to escape that makes you feel at ease. For some people, it’s the beach. Others feel relaxed when they’re out in nature, whether at a campsite or the mountains.

After considering the environments that help you feel relaxed, do some research to determine the best travel destinations that fit that description. For instance, Santa Monica, California, may be ideal if you love the beach. However, traveling to Aspen, Colorado, might be better if you prefer the mountains.

Splurge On A Hotel or Vacation Rental

Unlike other vacations where your itinerary is filled with action-packed activities from sun up to sundown, a wellness getaway will involve a lot of resting and taking it easy. Therefore, consider splurging on your hotel or vacation rental accommodations. Select a resort or home that has everything you need to feel comfortable.

Take an all-inclusive resort, for instance. These establishments have lavish suites with amenities to help you feel at home. They also have additional services such as spas, fitness centers, swimming pools, hot tubs, sports courts, and more to keep you occupied during your trip. If you prefer more isolation, a vacation home in a quiet neighborhood near the beach, park, or mountains is ideal.

Health-Focused Activities

You don’t have to stay cooped up in your room or vacation rental the entire time. There are plenty of activities you can do to enhance your mind and body. You can participate in a yoga class, take a bike or walking tour, visit art galleries and museums, hike, go fishing, engage in watersports, lounge on the beach, etc. Keep in mind that you’re on vacation to relax, so don’t plan too many activities in a day. It’s best to do one or two things that interest you and take it easy the rest of the time so you can recharge.

What To Bring

The final step is deciding what to pack. Since this getaway is all about your health and wellness, you want to bring items that will help enhance the experience. You’ll need something to keep you entertained while you’re hanging out in your hotel room, for starters. As the television and social media can be a distraction, it’s best to unplug and bring items like a journal, puzzles, books, or even art supplies.

While you’ll need a few outfits to throw on when you head out, keep it at a minimum. Instead, pack womens loungewear, pajamas, or athleisure clothing, so you’re comfortable. If you plan on working out or participating in activities that require specialized gear like hiking boots or running shoes, pack those things as well. You can also pack essential oils, bath salts, aromatherapy diffusers, or massage devices to help you relax.

When life starts to weigh on you despite your best efforts, sometimes you need to take a step back and recharge. A wellness getaway is a perfect opportunity to leave your worries behind and focus on what matters most. Whether you spend the weekend or an entire week, the much-needed downtime can do your mind and body good. Use the suggestions provided above to help you plan your health-focused escape for a renewed sense of wellness you never thought possible.
