Health and Wellness Trends for 2022

Most readers know 2022 as year three of the worst pandemic of the last century. We’ve been forced to change our way of life, with the focus drastically shifting from career and lifestyle to health and wellness.

The good news is that more people are taking their health and wellness seriously. As a result, millions of people are turning to technological innovations in order to better understand their own health status, as well as take steps to improve it.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at several health and wellness trends playing out in the first half of 2022:

Digital solutions

Digital platforms were adopted during the pandemic as a way to facilitate health service delivery. Commonly referred to as telehealth or telemedicine, these solutions go beyond virtual meetings with doctors and at-home testing for disease. For instance, more women are opting to refill their birth control online as a way to ensure access to safe forms of contraception. Others are embracing wearables that monitor various metrics of their daily health, from heart rate to activity levels. These digital solutions are expected to become more common in the years ahead.

Eating better

One of the rising trends in 2022 regarding wellness is healthier eating. Snacking and eating processed foods are declining as most people focus on better foods. It’s not surprising to note that local home deliveries, especially from restaurants, are falling, closing down most. Surprisingly, those who portrayed little knowledge in home cooking are currently changing their tune. Home confinement led to more persons adopting healthier and tastier meals than local deliveries. Nutrition-filled foods have become a part of daily meals.

Better sleep

We used to thrive in a society that was based on routine, from taking kids to school to running late at work. The majority of us never valued the importance of better sleep as part of our wellness and overall health. In 2022 and beyond, most of us have learned to get essential sleep. Taking advantage of the ability to sleep better and, in the meantime, canceling sleep deficiency has improved our wellbeing.

Mental fitness

Spring 2022 saw the easing of Covid 19 measures and health guidelines that saw most of us get held in our homes. But one of the advantages associated with the Covid 19 pandemic, which has become a trend, is how the majority of us are now open to talking about mental health without much stigma as was the case before. It has become more accessible and acceptable in society to reach out to mental health experts and support and get the necessary help. Mental health support can come from family members, professionals or even friends. Currently, it’s easier to get help for issues such as anxiety, depression, and burnout either at home or at the workplace.

Living an eco-friendly lifestyle

An environmentally friendly lifestyle is one of the trends gaining traction post-2022. We all fear an environmental catastrophe, and taking a few steps toward this kind of lifestyle makes a big difference. Professionals and environmentalists urge individuals to start making eco-friendly habits part of their daily routine by taking one or two steps to live a greener life. For instance, it’s worth noting that most people are considering a change in diet and taking local foods as they reduce waste.

Mindful alcohol consumption

Being intentional about alcohol intake has become a delicate decision that most of us consider post-2022. Drinking less and being mindful of your drinking habits is one of the trending well-being goals as it leads to healthier relationships. It’s critical to note that mindful drinking is not about cutting your alcohol intake entirely out of your life. It’s a deliberate decision to stay healthier and foster other friendly relationships that are beneficial. As a piece of professional advice, mindful drinking is knowing why you have that alcoholic drink. As more people strive to stay healthy and improve their wellness, alcohol intake is one of the items on top of the wellness trend in 2022. Drinking less has proved to ultimately improve decision-making and better relationships among couples. Each time you happen to pour yourself a glass of your favorite drink, always ask yourself the reason and why you are drinking.
