Join the Conversation with Child Welfare Expert David Ambroz at Malibu Library Speaker Series

Explore the Challenges of Foster Care and Homelessness in America

Child welfare expert and author David Ambroz will be the featured speaker at the Malibu Library Speaker Series on Wednesday, March 20, at 7:00 PM. Ambroz will discuss his book about the foster care system and children growing up in poverty and homelessness in America.

The event aims to shed light on the dire conditions faced by many children in the foster care system and those growing up in poverty and homelessness across the nation. Mayor Steve Uhring expressed his support for the event, emphasizing the importance of addressing these issues within the community.

Ambroz’s book, “A Place Called Home: A Memoir,” delves into his own experiences of growing up homeless in New York for 11 years and subsequently being in foster care. Through his memoir, Ambroz provides insight into the daily struggles faced by countless children living in poverty.

A nationally recognized poverty and child welfare expert, Ambroz has received accolades for his advocacy work, including being recognized as an American Champion of Change by President Barack Obama. He currently serves as Amazon’s Head of Community Engagement (West) and has previously held prominent roles at Walt Disney Television and the Los Angeles City Planning Commission.

The event will take place at the Malibu Library, located at 23519 Civic Center Way, Malibu. Due to limited space, RSVPs are required for attendance. For more information or to RSVP, visit www.MalibuCity.org/LibrarySpeakers or call the Malibu Library at 310-456-6438.

The Malibu Library Speaker Series, launched in 2013, is a collaborative program between the Malibu Library, part of LA County Library, and the City of Malibu. It features a diverse range of speakers discussing various topics, including entertainment, literature, science, motivation, and more.
