Free Presentation Includes Audience Q&A with Hip Hop Icons
Santa Monica College (SMC) is set to host a complimentary screening of “N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo” (2024), a documentary chronicling the history of West Coast Hip Hop. The event will feature an engaging audience Q&A session with Alonzo ‘Grandmaster Lonzo’ Williams, Marq ‘Cli-N-Tel’ Hawkins, and Kim Renard ‘Arabian Prince’ Nazel.
The screening will take place on Wednesday, March 27, at 11 a.m. in Malibu 202, situated on the SMC Malibu Campus at 23555 Civic Center Way, Malibu.
“N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo” offers an insider’s perspective on the evolution and impact of West Coast Hip Hop. Executive produced by Alonzo ‘Grandmaster Lonzo’ Williams, a founding member of the renowned World Class Wreckin’ Cru, the documentary was directed by Timothy Lee Conley. The film features insights from Marq ‘Cli-N-Tel’ Hawkins and Kim Renard ‘Arabian Prince’ Nazel, both instrumental figures in the early days of West Coast electro and founding members of N.W.A.
