Santa Monica Pier Celebrates Local Heroes and Honors Officer Ricardo Crocker with 5k Walk-Run

Final ‘Locals’ Night’ Event to Feature Tribute and Festivities

Santa Monica gears up for a night of celebration and remembrance as it pays tribute to its “Local Heroes” and the life of beloved Santa Monica Police Officer, Officer Ricardo Crocker, during the last “Locals’ Night” on the iconic Santa Monica Pier on Thursday, May 16, commencing at 3:30 p.m.

The evening’s festivities kick off with the Santa Monica Pier’s final “Locals’ Night” from 3:30-10 p.m., promising a blend of entertainment and activities. Attendees can expect a car show, youth events, performances by local DJs, live music from homegrown bands, and more, spread across various locations on the Pier.

Adding a touch of community spirit, the Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) will host the “4th Annual Rick Crocker 5K,” a walk-run beginning at 4 p.m. Participants can register on the pier deck behind the Santa Monica Pier Carousel at 200 Santa Monica Pier. The 5K course charts a scenic route, starting from Ocean Front Walk, looping at Bay Street, and concluding back at the Carousel. The event garners support from enthusiastic crowds and showcases the participation of the Santa Monica Police and Fire Departments, displaying their patrol cars, fire trucks, and emergency response vehicles.

Amid the revelry of “Locals’ Night,” Santa Monica will hold a special recognition ceremony and gift presentation around 5 p.m., honoring its “Local Heroes.” These heroes encompass individuals who dedicate themselves to the welfare of the Santa Monica community, including police officers and firefighters.

The event will take place at 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401, on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The evening’s schedule is as follows:

  • Santa Monica Pier’s last “Locals’ Night” from 3:30-10 p.m.
  • Santa Monica PAL’s “4th Annual Rick Crocker 5K,” a walk-run at 4 p.m.
  • Santa Monica honors “Local Heroes” at approximately 5 p.m.
