Run Malibu Half Marathon Returns with New Course and Scenic Coastal Views

Runners to Experience PCH’s Stunning Landscapes in 16th Annual Event

The Run Malibu Half Marathon will return on Sunday, Oct. 13, featuring a newly redesigned course and a variety of partners to enhance the race day experience.

Now in its 16th year, the event offers nearly 3,000 participants the chance to run along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The reimagined 13.1-mile half marathon and 5K routes showcase some of California’s most stunning coastal scenery. The half marathon begins at California State University, winds past the Santa Monica Mountains, and heads south along the coastline, finishing near Mugu Rock.

The course, known for its flat and fast layout, is ideal for both experienced runners and first-timers aiming to set personal records while enjoying the oceanfront views.

“We’re excited to offer a re-imagined course that connects to the heritage of our event,” said Race Director Cassidy Case. “This section of PCH was the original spark of inspiration that led to the founding of Run Malibu over 16 years ago. With more local partnerships and enhanced race day offerings, this year’s event will embody the ‘Good Life’ spirit, creating unforgettable memories for all who join us.”

Run Malibu has partnered with Runna, the official training partner, to provide expert training plans for both the half marathon and 5K. Participants can access personalized workouts, nutrition advice, and injury prevention tips.

Other partners include Rivalz, the official snack partner, Jambar, the official bar partner, and Aquafina, the official water partner. Land Rover joins as the official automotive partner, and Town & Country Rentals will help ensure smooth event logistics.

At the finish line, participants can enjoy a festival-like atmosphere featuring live music, yoga sessions, food trucks, recovery zones, and exhibitors offering non-alcoholic beverages.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual race option allows participants worldwide to take part in the event.

Run Malibu continues its commitment to the community by supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu, to which it has contributed over $350,000. In 2023, the event also helped launch a kids’ running program in local schools. Participants can choose to run for charity, with VIP treatment available to those who upgrade their race packages, with all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Club.

Families are invited to participate in the Run Groms Mile, an untimed event for children ages 4-11. The race will be held at Malibu High School on Saturday, Oct. 12.

“The excitement from our community has been incredible,” said Case. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our 2024 event, which truly represents the good life.”

Run Malibu is part of the Golden State Challenge, a series of eight races across California that celebrate the state’s diverse landscapes and running communities. For more information, visit runmalibu.com.
