Santa Monica College to Screen Oscar-Nominated ‘To Kill a Tiger’ with Director Q&A

The film, which tracks low conviction rates for rape in India, launched the #StandWithHer campaign against gender-based violence

Santa Monica College will host a free screening of the Oscar-nominated documentary “To Kill a Tiger” on Thursday, Nov. 20, followed by a Q&A with director Nisha Pahuja and a reception.

The 59-minute Hindi-language film with English subtitles tells the story of an Indian farmer fighting for justice after his 13-year-old daughter’s rape. It begins at 7 p.m. in Auditorium Room 180 at the SMC Center for Media and Design, 1660 Stewart St.

Organized by journalism professor Sharyn Obsatz, the event includes chai tea and Indian snacks. Seating is limited; RSVP is requested at bit.ly/standwithhernov20.

Free parking is available in the CMD garage off Pennsylvania Avenue. Public transit, biking and walking are encouraged.
