Police Investigate Reported Deaths of Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Singer at Brentwood Home

Firefighters Discovered Two Deceased Adults at Chadbourne Avenue Residence

Los Angeles police are investigating the deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, who were found inside their Brentwood residence Sunday afternoon, according to multiple news sources. The identities of the deceased were confirmed by a report from TMZ, which stated that the couple was found with knife wounds on their bodies.

The deaths are being investigated as a homicide.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said firefighters and paramedics responded to a home on Chadbourne Avenue around 3:30 p.m., where they discovered a man and a woman dead inside the residence.

Rob Reiner, son of the comedian Carl Reiner, was both an acclaimed actor, who won two Emmys for his role as “Meathead” Stivic in the popular television series, All in the Family, and beloved film director who had critical and box office hits with his films, This is Spinal Tap, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, and A Few Good Men after he attended UCLA Film School.

Reiner was also co-founder of the production company Castle Rock Entertainment, which produced three of his films, as well as such films as In the Line of FireThe Shawshank RedemptionBefore SunriseGhosts of Mississippi, also directed by Reiner, and The Green Mile.

The beloved director was also well-known on social media for his progressive views and dedication to social justice.

The Reiner family has issued a statement, per Variety, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Detectives from the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division were assigned to the case. No further information has been released at this time.
