HomeState Partners with Atsuko Okatsuka on Menu Item Benefiting Immigrant Legal Aid Group

According to the company, $1 from each bowl sold will be donated to Immigrant Defenders Law Center, a nonprofit that provides legal representation to immigrants facing deportation proceedings.

HomeState will introduce a limited-time menu collaboration with comedian Atsuko Okatsuka beginning May 6 as part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The menu item, called “The Atsuko Bowl,” marks the first rice bowl offered by the Texas-style taco chain. The dish combines ingredients associated with Tex-Mex and Japanese cuisine, including Calrose rice, achiote-marinated chicken, black beans, roasted mushrooms and a miso-chipotle sauce.

Okatsuka recently released her second stand-up special, FATHER, on Hulu and Disney+, and is currently touring nationally with her “Big Bowl Tour.”

HomeState, founded in 2013 by Texas native Briana Valdez, operates multiple locations across Southern California, including a recently opened Santa Monica location.
