Since 1980, this fusion jazz group has mixed influences from Asian, Latin, African-American, and European-to create an exciting jazz blend. Here’s a chance to see them locally at a great new venue. Movie Speak, May 5, 7pm, free, MLK Jr. Auditorium, Santa Monica Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd., 310.458.8600.When you hear people in LA speaking about a “wrap,” a “taco cart,” and a “banana,” they may not be speaking about food, but using movie industry lingo! Actor/producer Tony Bill explains this language in his new book Movie Speak: How to Talk Like You Belong on a Movie Set, and he’ll be talking the talk at this event, as well as signing copies.
