Alert: Police Blotter:

There and Back Again

On Thursday, August 19, at 10:47 a.m., officers were on a routine patrol in the area of High Place and Virginia Avenue when they witnessed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The officers took a closer look at the occupants of this vehicle and recognized the passenger as a known gang member who had recently been deported (but had presumably re-entered the United States illegally). The officers then attempted to stop this vehicle, but as they did so the passenger leapt out of the conveyance and started to run in the direction of an apartment building.

Officers caught hold of this currently-running-recently-deported-but-illegally-re-entered-illegal-immigrant-gang-member, detained him, and then confirmed that he was the guy that they thought he was. This known gang member also, and perhaps not surprisingly, had a false driver’s license in his possession. The cops arrested this known gang member for providing false information, a warrant, and also for deportation proceedings. Bail was denied.

A Love Story?

On Thursday, August 19, at 4:44 p.m., a woman (the victim) had gone to her boyfriend’s house in order to take him to rehab. When she arrived, the boyfriend began to yell at her. The woman had brought a friend with her, perhaps fearing that the boyfriend was going to behave badly. The boyfriend then drove to the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Colorado Avenue, where he told the woman that someone was going to meet him there.

When they arrived, the boyfriend demanded the woman’s phone, but she refused to hand it over. Then the person that the boyfriend had planned on meeting arrived at the scene, and the boyfriend met with that person, and returned to the woman at which point the boyfriend demanded some money from the woman. She refused to give him any.

The boyfriend then got back into the car and began to drive again. The boyfriend then stopped the vehicle and began to pull the woman’s hair, and punch her in the face. He then drove to a bank in Venice whereupon he ordered the woman to go in and withdraw some money. The woman and her friend entered the bank, but instead of getting money, they got the cops, via cell phone. The cops arrested this 30-year-old boyfriend, from Los Angeles, for battery of person in a relationship and probation violation. His bail is $20,000.

Who’s Your Daddy?

On Friday, August 20, at 10:05 p.m., officers went to the 2200 block of Colorado Avenue in response to an assault and battery report. Upon arrival the victim told them that he had been in an argument with his dad over bills and finances. During this argument the father had grabbed a pair of scissors from a drawer and threatened the son. The father had then grabbed the son from behind and threatened to slice his throat with the scissors. The suspect left the location and summoned the cops. The cops arrested the dad for assault and battery. Bail was set for $50,000.
