Alert: Police Blotter: A unique look at crime

MILK WAS A BAD CHOICE

On June 2, at 5:40 p.m., officers patrolling near 7th Street and Colorado spotted a man drinking a beverage in a brown bag – normally the packaging of choice for clandestine alcohol consumption. However, upon contacting the man, officers found the hidden beverage was milk. After talking with him, officers also learned the individual had arrived in Santa Monica that day, and that he is a registered sex offender. The man had also failed to register since March 2010, despite the requirement that he register every 30 days. He was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender every 30 days and probation violation. His bail is $10,000.

KICKING IN DOORS IS HARD WORK

On June 1, at 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a possible home invasion robbery on the 1700 block of Euclid. A neighbor told the officers that he heard yelling and what sounded like someone kicking in a door. When the officers reached the scene, they found the victim, who told them an unknown person had kicked in his door and was sitting in the living room. Officers entered the building and found the suspect, as the man had said, sitting on the couch “sweating profusely.” He was booked for vandalism, under the influence of a controlled substance, trespassing, and parole violation. He was not eligible for bail.

SHE GOT TIME WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM HER FRIENDS

On June 8, officers stopped in to a T-Mobile store on Wilshire to follow up on a suspect in custody accused of grand theft. The employee had been facilitating fake returns and placed refunds into a friend’s account. This had occurred on seven different occasions to the tune of $3,072.90. Maybe seven just wasn’t her lucky number. The suspect was charged with grand theft, burglary, and forgery. Bail was set at $20,000.

NOTHING LIKE A LITTLE STREET SHOW TO GET YOU ARRESTED

On June 12 at 1:16 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Arizona about a man making sexually explicit comments. In case the ladies didn’t know what he was talking about, he also showed them his no pants dance. He was booked for indecent exposure, offensive words likely to invoke immediate violent response, and a Santa Monica warrant. Bail was set at $500.
