Alert: Police Blotter:

A Dream Becomes a Nightmare

On Thursday, Nov. 18, at 5:55 p.m., officers were called to the 7-11 store at 630 Wilshire Boulevard in response to a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival the officers were informed that the disturbance had ended, so they left the location. As they were leaving the officers noticed that a man was lying down in the alley, blocking a portion of the roadway. The officers approached this man and tapped him on the foot, advising him to get up (wakey, wakey!). There was no response. The officers continued to do this numerous times with results that could only be described as negative. Eventually this man awoke from his slumber, stood up, and began to walk. After a few steps the man attempted to punch one of the officers with a closed fist. The officers thus arrested this 48-year-old transient for assault on a police officer. His bail is $20,000.

A Cry For Help

On Saturday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m., officers traveled to the 1900 block of Stewart Street in order to respond to a report of domestic violence. When they arrived at the location they heard the sound of a female crying that was emanating from inside a residence. Officers spoke with the crying woman who told them that she had discovered that some of her jewelry was missing, and that she had asked her husband about this (“honey, have you seen my jewelry?”). The husband responded to this enquiry by initially verbally abusing her, and then followed up the abuse by pushing her to the ground. The woman had then called the police for help. Whilst the police were on their way to the scene the husband had left the premises. As the police were talking with the woman, the husband returned to the residence, whereupon he was arrested for domestic violence. This 74-year-old man’s bail is $50,000.

Thanks For Giving

On Saturday, Nov. 20, at 7:38 p.m., officers went to Shutters restaurant at 1 Pico Boulevard in order to deal with a person that had assaulted some staff members after refusing to pay for services rendered. When they arrived at Shutters the officers were told that this man had been asked to pay for his bill in the lounge several times, and had eventually furnished the establishment with a credit card, which he had then refused to sign for. The man had then become belligerent, and his behavior had then morphed into a yelling tirade, and he had generally begun to create a disturbance. At that point the staff had asked this man to leave the premises, but he had refused, so a staff member had approached the man, whereupon the man had grabbed this staff member (by now the staff member had become the victim in this case) by the wrist, and had pulled him down to the ground. The victim had managed to break free, and the man had then left the building. Officers searched for, and found this man a short distance away. The officers arrested this 56-year-old, from San Francisco, for assault and battery, and public intoxication. His bail is $20,000.
