Nephew Assaults Uncle, Sends to E.R.: Alert Police Blotter: All in the Family

This story begins on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 1:00 a.m. when officers responded to the emergency room at Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, located at 1200 16th Street in regard to an assault victim, who was being treated at the hospital. When the officers arrived they heard from the victim that his nephew had been inside his residence, and had been behaving in a boisterous manner, and that this unruly demeanor had also included some cursing.

The victim, or uncle, had requested that the nephew quiet down, but the nephew, who was on the telephone by this time, actually increased the intensity of his obstreperous behavior. The uncle then included a hand gesture in order to visually send a signal of his displeasure with the proceedings to his nephew, to which the nephew responded by approaching the uncle and punching him twice in the face, thus causing lacerations to the uncle’s mouth and eye areas.

After doing this, the nephew left the residence. On Thursday, Jan. 13, at 8:30 a.m. officers spotted the nephew at Santa Monica College (where he was enrolled in social studies, perhaps). This 20-year-old nephew was charged with felony battery. His bail was set at $50,000.
