Lady Vikings Move On In State Basketball: Samohi Girls Beat Carson Colts in First Round of State Tournament

CARSON – The Santa Monica Lady Vikings advanced to the second round of the state tournament with a win over the Carson Colts 59-43 on Tuesday night.

The Lady Vikes never relented after leading 17-6 after the first quarter.

Kalaria Obasi led all scorers with 15 points and Briana Harris scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Moriah Faulk seized nine rebounds of her own and Bianka Balthazar added five assists.

Chante Miles scored 14 points for the Colts while Anne Currie had a game-high 10 rebounds and three steals. Janita Iamaleava had eight points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

Samohi will try to avenge their 20-point loss last week to Mater Dei when they face the No. 1 seed on the road Thursday at 6 p.m.
