Santa Monica Cultural Affairs presents the 6th Annual Jazz on the Lawn summer concert series. Bring a picnic, blanket and beach chair and enjoy a sampling of free jazz each Sunday in August from 5 to 7 p.m. on the lawn in front of Santa Monica City Hall. Get up and move to the music then cool off with a frozen treat from the dessert trucks. Performing on August 12 is The Tony Guerro Quintet, performing music form the Great American Songbook from the 1930s and 60s. Free bike valet in the parking lot north of City Hall. Free parking available after 4 p.m. at Santa Monica Civic Center Auditorium, 1855 Main Street.

For the new or experienced, all artists, working in any media, are cordially invited to join in the capture of so much natural beauty in this, the Santa Monica Mountains area. Please bring your own supplies. Paint-out sponsored by Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore. Share artist camaraderie and the pleasure of expressing nature on canvas. Directions: 101 Freeway onto Las Virgenes, go past Malibu Creek State Park to Tapia entrance. From PCH, north on Malibu Canyon Road -after the tunnel, look for Tapia entrance.
