Celebrate The Life Of Santa Monica Civic Leader Millie Rosenstein This Saturday, September 24:

The life of civic leader Millie Rosenstein, who died in August at the age of 96, will be celebrated this Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, located at 1310 11th Street at Santa Monica Boulevard.

A native of New York, Millie and her husband Herman, moved to Los Angeles with their two children in 1958, moving to Santa Monica in 1980.

A life long activist, she spent the last third of her life making an impact in the city.

Although her focus was to improve the life of seniors, she worked as a volunteer for then Assemblymember Tom Hayden and at KCRW.

She also worked with the Martin Luther King Westside Coalition and for a total of over 20 years was on: the Commission on the Status of Women, the Social Services Commission and the Commission for the Senior Community, which she chaired and from which she participated on the Executive Council of SMC’s Emeritus College as a liaison.

For eight years, she was President of the Santa Monica Democratic Club and was recognized in 2000 by then Assemblywoman Sheila Kuehl as the 41st Assembly District’s Woman of the Year. For over 30 years, she was an active member of Santa Monicans for Renters’ Rights and played a role in its last nominating convention.

Millie Rosenstein will be buried at the VA Cemetery in West Los Angeles next to her husband. She leaves behind her son former Mayor Paul Rosenstein, his wife Ada Hollie, and her daughter Fran Alexander and her husband Don in Seattle.
