Samohi Tennis Reaches Quarterfinals:

With only one loss in the doubles section, the Samohi Viking girls’ tennis team advanced to the CIF quarterfinals with an 11-7 win over South Hills on Monday.

Christine Maddox battled an injury to win both of her matches before being subbed out and Natalie Yeliokumson added one more singles win for the necessary insurance.

“We jumped on them,” said Samohi coach Wilston Poon. “Doubles stepped it up completely and we were very lucky. Christine was hurt and played at 50 percent. She won both of her matches serving underhand.

Tomorrrow will be a really tough day.”

The Vikings will host No. 2 seed San Marino at Samohi on Tuesday afternoon.
