Local filmmaker James D. Scurlock will present his short subject documentary, Parents of the Year, about Yolanda and Rogelio Garcia, immigrants from Oaxaca who put their children through college by collecting aluminum cans from the trash at Venice Beach. The screening will be held Saturday, April 9, at Mt. Olive Church, 1343 Ocean Park Boulevard at 6 p.m. A discussion will follow the film. For more information, call (310) 452-1116.
