On Thursday, March 5, at 10:44 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the 1400 block of 21st Street in order to investigate a domestic violence report.
When they arrived, they detained a man who was exiting the apartment where the report had signified was the scene of the violence.
This man was put aside for further questioning. The officers then entered the apartment and noticed that it was a complete mess, suggesting that someone had ransacked it. The officers then noticed a woman inside the apartment and they began to talk to her about what had happened.
The woman and the man had been married for several years, the officers learned, and on this night they had been out for the evening, perhaps enjoying a meal, a few drinks, and some convivial conversation, or perhaps not, because upon their return home they began to argue.
After this argument had been in progress for a few minutes, the wife began to escalate the tone of the proceedings by picking up various objects and hurling them at the husband. These items hit the husband in the arms several times, causing some minor injuries. The wife then went on to ransack the entire apartment. The officers arrested the wife, aged 50 years, and a Santa Monica resident, and she was charged with inflicting corporal injury upon a spouse.
Her bail was set at $50,000.
