On Thursday, April 26, at 1:00 p.m., officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the 100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard after hearing about a man who was attempting to punch people as they walked past him.
When the officers arrived at the scene they spoke with the victim who stated that he spontaneously punched in the shoulder by a man he had passed.
The victim told the officers that he confronted the man and, in response, was told by the punching man that he was going to kill him.
Stirred into a state of fear at this less than delightful news the victim called the police.
The officers then found the suspect and took him into custody.
As the officers were putting this suspect into the back of the police vehicle the suspect began to strenuously resist them, but the officers displayed their evident dominance and the suspect eventually complied and took his seat in the back of the vehicle.
This 51-year-old homeless man was charged with criminal threats, assault and battery, resisting officers, and a local warrant.
His bail was set at $50,250.
