OPCC Announces New Member To Its Board Of Directors:

OPCC, a non-profit organization which empowers men, women, and children to rebuild meaningful lives of self-sufficiency through a continuum of care and assistance, has announced that technology venture capitalist and entertainment industry executive Dennis Miller has joined its board of directors, effective immediately.

The addition of Miller, currently a digital media advisor to global entertainment conglomerate Lionsgate Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: LGF), increases the number of OPCC directors to 20, and further diversifies the non-profit management, fundraising, and oversight experience of the board.

“With his successful track record in the media, entertainment, and technology domains, and extensive corporate and non-profit governance experience, Dennis adds another exciting and sophisticated dimension to the OPCC board’s collective fiscal and fundraising expertise,” said Sarah Jessup, chair of the board of OPCC, formerly known as the Ocean Park Community Center. “Furthermore, his proven ability to carefully shepherd the growth of both early-stage and mature organizations is an ideal fit for OPCC as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and seeks new avenues to expand its services and facilities footprint over time.”

“I am honored to join the board of directors of such a prestigious organization which deals with some of the most pervasive social challenges in our city,” said Miller. “OPCC is committed to delivering valuable services, in the most efficient and compassionate manner possible, that move people off the streets, appropriately assist them, and lead them on the way back to lives of dignity and independence. I look forward to working with my fellow board members in furthering this mission, and in helping OPCC reach and support greater numbers of individuals in need throughout West Los Angeles.”

Currently, Miller oversees the growth and development of Lionsgate’s multiple digital entertainment initiatives.

From 2005 to 2011, he was a general partner at Spark Capital, a Boston-based venture capital firm which funds early-stage companies at the intersection of media and technology, and has invested in such notable enterprises as Twitter, OMG POP, Boxee, Tumblr, Next New Networks, CNET, AdMeld, and Group Commerce.

Prior to Spark, Miller was managing director of Constellation Ventures, the venture capital arm of Bear Stearns, where he spearheaded investments in TVONE, College Sports Network, K12 and Capital IQ during this three-year tenure.
