Principal Keeps Promise to Students, Loses Hair:

To the cheers of hundreds of McKinley Elementary School students, Principal Paco Garcia fulfilled a promise to shave his head if students reached their Read-a-thon goal.

During the McKinley Read-a-thon, students read more than 5,100 books, going far beyond their goal of 4,000 books.

At an afternoon assembly on Thursday, May 26, students chanted in unison, “Shave that head!”  The top student readers made the first cuts. For a moment, Garcia boasted a  Mohawk cut and, then, was bald. The newly bald Garcia encouraged the students to keep on reading and learning.
