Santa Monica Sunday Happenings For November 4:

Looking for something fun to do today, Sunday Nov. 4? There are plenty of things happening around Santa Monica. Here is a partial list of what’s on:

3rd Annual Fundraiser: A Night of Empowerment will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Sheraton Delfina Santa Monica, 530 Pico Blvd. Enjoy a night of cocktails, food, music, silent auction items, gift bags, photo booth fun and more. Admission $30. 818.967.3006, women-empowered.com.

New West Symphony goes “Italian” with acclaimed Soprano Dina Kuznetsova at 4 p.m. at Barnum Hall, 601 Pico Boulevard. Tickets, priced from $25 to $98, are available by calling 866.776.8400 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 24/7 from the Symphony’s secure website newwestsymphony.org; and at the box office.

CRY SoCAL’s 2012 Walk/Run will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crescent Bay Park, 2000 Ocean Ave. The event comprises of non-competitive 5k walks, activities for kids, and snacks for everyone. 818.237.4249, america.cry.org/ cryevents/walk/CRY_SOCAL_WALK_2012.

Make-a-Tote: “Cause for Creativity: What a Girl Wants, What a Girl Needs” will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, 2525 Michigan Avenue, G1. Advanced Vocal Techniques Recital will be performed at 4 p.m. at The Edye Second Space, under the direction of Janelle DeStefano. SMC’s advanced voice students will perform classical, jazz, musical theater and contemporary commercial songs. Free. Complimentary tickets are available in the SMC Music Office, Room 211 in the Performing Arts Center. A free panel discussion featuring former Japanese American World War II camp internees and Japanese American community leaders will be at 4:30 p.m. following the 2 p.m. performance of the Santa Monica College production of the world premiere, “Heart Mountain.” The panel discussion and reception with food and beverages is sponsored by the SMC Global Citizenship Council and the SMC Theatre Arts Department. SMC Theatre Arts Studio Stage on the main campus, 1900 Pico Blvd. (See Theater section for more information).

Four Sourcebooks authors will speak and sign books at the Santa Monica Barnes & Noble at 4 p.m. on the “GET REAL: Contemps on Tour” to spread the word about contemporary literature and telling stories the way life happens: Real Issues.
