Enjoy Easter Fun At Santa Monica Playhouse This Weekend:

Santa Monica Playhouse will welcome the return of its “Enchanted Fairytale Interactive Theatre” this weekend as part of its Easter celebrations.

It will take place on Saturday, March 30 and Easter Sunday, March 31 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm each day.

The sessions are an exciting and entertaining theatre experience for children aged 4 to 10 and their grown-ups.

The experience is just the thing if the grandchildren are coming for the weekend, or Moms and Dads want to do something different and uniquely theatrical with their children.

Directed by the gaily costumed Santa Monica Playhouse Enchanted Fairytale Players, the two sessions invite participants to explore the magic of theatre for a totally interactive afternoon of story-telling, sing-a-longs, crafts, face-painting, enactment of a fairytale, theatre games, refreshments and special gifts.

Children get the chance to make new friends, create handicrafts, sing, dance, and act out a fairytale, as they all take over the stage for 90 minutes of pure theater fun.

Playhouse Director of Education Serena Dolinsky said interactive theater games help develop a child’s imagination and self-confidence.

“Hands-on prop-making allows children to explore their world through tangible materials they can manipulate, and receive creative fulfillment with instant results, using their prop as they act in the chosen fairytale, legend, or folk story of the day,” Dolinsky said. “Parents work as partners by taking an active role in all aspects of the program. The experience also supports parents in their communicative and team-building efforts, while at the same time providing children with the confidence needed to excel in upcoming school programs and giving them a head start on learning, imagining and problem solving. But most of all, it’s fun!”

All craft materials plus free refreshments are included.

Admission is $15 for children aged 4 to 10, one free adult admission with every paid child’s ticket; additional accompanying adults are $5 each.

Each guest also will also receive a special gift – an official Santa Monica Playhouse theatre activities coloring book.

Participation is limited to 15 families per event and advance reservations are required.

Santa Monica Playhouse, currently celebrating its 52nd year of continuous theatrical and educational services to the community, is located at 1211 4th Street (between Arizona &and Wilshire), one block east of the Third Street Promenade, in the heart of downtown Santa Monica.
