Santa Monica Police Arrest Pair Of LA Teens For Vandalizing Main Street: Alert Police Blotter: Tag Team.

Two Los Angeles teenagers were arrested on Friday, April 26 after they were caught spray painting on Santa Monica signs and fences.

At 10:40 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department who were on patrol in the area of the 300 block of Olympic Drive were flagged down by a citizen who told them that he had seen some people spray painting various slogans on signs and fencing in the 1700 block of Main Street.

The officers rushed to the scene and were guided to the exact location of the spray painters by a second citizen.

The officers detained a pair of young men at the scene. The officers looked at the handiwork apparently created by this pair and they were arrested.

The first suspect, a male aged 18, and a Los Angeles resident was charged with possession of instruments to vandalize. Bail for him was set at $500.

The second suspect, a male aged 17, and thus considered a juvenile, also of Los Angeles, was charged with the same offence and released to the custody of relatives.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
