Award-winning author Nick Krieger will present a free reading and discussion of his work Nov. 19 at Santa Monica College. Krieger will read from his memoir, “Nina Here Nor There: My Journey Beyond Gender” (Beacon Press, 2011).
The coming-of-age tale, which won a Stonewall Honor Book Award and an Independent Literary Award, is a gender-bending exploration of first love and the land between man and woman.
The event will be held at 11:15 am in SMC’s Science Lecture Hall 153, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. For information, call 310.434.4003. Seating is strictly on a first-arrival basis.
Krieger has been published in multiple travel guides, and has earned several travel-writing awards. A native of New York now living in San Francisco, he holds an MFA from the University of San Francisco. Krieger teaches writing seminars, speaks at conferences and colleges around the nation, and works one-on-one as a writing coach. A practicing yogi, he also leads creativity and yoga workshops.
Krieger’s appearance at Santa Monica College is sponsored by the SMC Associates (www.smc.edu/associates), a private organization that funds speakers and special programs on campus.
