Authorities Identify Two Victims Killed On PCH West Of Malibu Last Tuesday:

Latest police news and updates.

Two men from Irvine were publicly identified today as the victims of a collision on Pacific Coast Highway west of Malibu.

Kelvin Han, 55, and Yevi Shik Youn, 61, were both killed instantly when their Honda sedan was hit by a speeding, out of control car on Pacific Coast Highway at Thornhill Broome Beach, near Point Mugu, four miles west of Malibu, the coroner’s office and California said.

The driver of the speeding car, a black Mercedes-Benz, was also killed instantly in the 12:45 a.m. crash last Tuesday. His name has not been released by the Ventura County Medical Examiner, KBUU-FM (97.5) reported.

The Mercedes-Benz had been seen driven at a high rate of speed down a straightaway at Thornhill Broome Beach, and skidded as it entered a curve, California Highway Patrol investigators said today.

It was sliding broadside when it was hit by the front of the eastbound Honda sedan with Han and Youn inside. It was not clear which man was driving, according to the medical examiner.

The force of the crash split the Mercedes-Benz in two, and arriving paramedics originally had thought three cars were involved. The Coast Guard was called in to search the adjacent Pacific Ocean in case anyone had been thrown into the water.

CHP officers in Ventura told KBUU today that their major crash investigation team was still working on the case, and did not have any new information.
