Man Arrested In Santa Monica For Blasting Music In Car While Intoxicated:

Latest police, crime and courts news.

A 42-year-old Los Angeles resident was charged with resisting officers and public intoxication after he was found parked with his door open and blasting music.

Late in the evening on Friday, March 20, officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a complaint of loud music emanating from a parked vehicle at the intersection of Ocean Ave. and Bay St.

Upon arrival the officers followed the music and discovered a parked car with the drivers’ door open, a man sitting in the drivers seat while slumped over the steering wheel, and an open can of beer situated in the center console.

The officers had asked this individual to exit the vehicle and noticed that the man displayed obvious signs of intoxication.

The officers had attempted to conduct a routine pat-down search of this man and when they did this the man resisted and refused to cooperate with the officers’ requests.

After a brief struggle the officers overcame the man’s resistance and placed him under arrest. Bail was set at $25,000.

Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
