A Santa Monica man was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Friday, May 8, after assaulting his girlfriend during an argument. A woman entered the Santa Monica Police Department front lobby at 10:15 pm and told them that she had been the victim of a battery.
Officers asked her what had happened and she told them that she had been chatting to some of her male friends when her boyfriend had arrived and had become possessed with jealousy at the sight of her chatting with other men.
She said that he had then insisted that they leave forthwith and that had resulted in an argument.
She added that the boyfriend had then punched her in the face and head several times leaving a cut on her lip and a knot on her head. She mentioned to the officers that this boyfriend had assaulted her many times like this in the past.
The officers went in search of the boyfriend and soon discovered him still in the area. This 62-year-old male of Santa Monica was arrested and charged with domestic violence. Bail was set at $50,000.
