Beverly Hills Man, 25, Arrested After Throwing Candle Holder At Santa Monica Restaurant Security: Alert Police Blotter: Candlelight Vigil.

Latest Santa Monica Police Department news.

A 25-year-old resident of Beverly Hills was arrested on Friday, Aug. 7, after throwing a glass candle holder at security staff at a Santa Monica restaurant.

At 2 am officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a report that a group of people was throwing rocks and bottles at 41 Ocean (a restaurant located in the 1500 block of Ocean Ave.) so the officers rushed to the location in order to quell the trouble and investigate.

Upon arrival at the restaurant the officers were immediately approached by a security guard employed by the restaurant who told them that a few minutes prior to closing time he, along with other members of the security staff at the restaurant, had begun to escort patrons from the courtyard area of the restaurant and out towards Ocean Ave.

He said that at that time a large crowd had gathered outside the restaurant on Ocean Ave.

He continued to tell the officers that as the security staff was doing this they had witnessed a man throw a glass candle holder at the security staff and that the glass candle holder had almost struck one of the members of the security staff in the head.

The suspect was pointed out to the officers by the security guard and the officers subsequently detained this man as he attempted to flee from the scene.

The suspect was then positively identified by a witness as the individual who had thrown the glass candleholder.

The officers arrested this Beverly Hills man and he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000.
