‘Hunger Games’ On Track To Top Box Office For Second Week With $75.8 Million:

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Hollywood had a “solid, but not record-breaking” Thanksgiving weekend, with the latest Hunger Games movie, and a new Disney Pixar flick, in the one-two positions.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2” was on track to gross $75.8 million over the five-night holiday weekend, which began Wednesday night. It has now grossed $198.3 million in the United States and Canada, and $440.7 million worldwide, according to Rentrak’s Paul Dergarabedian.

Disney’s “The Good Dinosaur” opened in second place, with $39.2 million in five-night sales.

“Creed” opened in third place, with $30.1 million in projected sales. No other debuts were in the list of the 10 highest-grossing domestic movie.

Those films, as estimated by the studios and collated by Rentrak, were “Spectre” ($12.8 million), “The Peanuts Movie” ($9.7 million), “The Night Before” ($8.2 million), “Secret In Their Eyes” ($4.5 million), “Spotlight” ($4.5 million), “Brooklyn” ($3.8 million) and “The Martian” ($3.3 million).
