Become a Collector: Affordable Art at Auction Sunday:

Everyone loves a deal…whether it be everyday purchases or seminal works of art. If you are an art lover, you may know that the paintings of Ed Moses were recently part of a retrospective and solo exhibition this past month. “Moses at 90” generated a tremendous amount of exposure. However what most people don’t realize is that selected works of renowned artist Ed Moses are currently available for a fraction of the cost at the Santa Monica Auctions event this Sunday, June 5. If you have ever considered owning art created by the iconic artist, this is your chance.

Santa Monica Auctions will be auctioning eight valuable works by Ed Moses at the event. The art includes lithographs starting at $500 to paintings ranging from $30,000 to $50,000, offering something for everyone (depending on one’s budget).

The Auctions’ preview is currently on view at Robert Berman Gallery from 11am-6pm. Tomorrow, Saturday June 4, gallery owner Robert Berman will be giving an auction preview talk at 1pm with the gallery remaining open until 8pm. Ask questions, and take some time to learn about the art.

When asked which work he thought was most impressive, Berman replied, “It’s like choosing a favorite child…you can’t pick which one is the best. Each one for its own reason has strength and incredible aesthetic qualities. All of the art by Ed Moses that we have included in this auction from these periods are special.”

Berman added that the auction will feature many works with starting bids under $1000…a good way for any new collector to begin acquiring art.

Also up for auction is one of the celebrated Andy Warhol soup can prints, as well as three collections by Helmut Newton and a sought after Robert Heineken portfolio which includes 12 cibachrome photograms along with a suite of 25 lithographs.

Santa Monica Auctions has been independently owned and operated since 1984. Offering artworks by well-known artists with exceptionally low starting bids is one of the reasons collectors keep coming back.

Artworks by artists such as Don Bachardy, Banksy, Jean Michel Basquiat, David Bowie, George Condo, Shepard Fairey, Sam Francis, Robert Heinecken, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Mapplethorpe, Helmut Newton, Raymond Pettibon, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and more will all be up for auction.

The event will take place Sunday June 5 outside the B7 Gallery at 1pm (gallery opens at 11am) at Bergamot Station Arts Center, 2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica. Live phone bidding and online bidding will be available at the event. To view the current catalogue online go to: smauctions.com.
