OPCC Honored As Non-Profit of the Year:

OPCC (formerly Ocean Park Community Center ) was honored Wednesday as a Nonprofit of the Year during the California Nonprofits Day ceremony at the State Capitol in Sacramento. OPCC was selected by Assemblymember Richard Bloom as an “exceptional nonprofit organization in his community.”

OPCC joined other nonprofit leaders from across the state being honored at the inaugural California Nonprofits Day event.

“OPCC provides highly effective, integrated and comprehensive services to the most traumatized, vulnerable members of the community,” according to the organization. “OPCC is proud to be honored for its service to the greater Los Angeles community.”

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized for our continued efforts to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors are housed, healthy and safe,” said John Maceri, OPCC and Lamp Community Executive Director. “We are extremely proud of the work we’ve accomplished this year, and sincerely appreciate the strong support from community leaders like Assemblymember Bloom. Together, we’ll continue to positively impact the lives of those we serve and the California community at large.”

The award recipients visited the Assembly Floor and were then honored at a luncheon at Sacramento’s Sheraton Grand Hotel, with presentations from former Senate President Pro Tempore [and Sacramento Mayor-Elect] Darrell Steinberg, Assemblymember Rich Gordon, and Jan Masaoka, CEO of the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits.)

“Nonprofit organizations are vitally important to the economy and well-being of California. But too often nonprofits are ‘hidden in plain sight,’” said Masaoka. “We are thrilled that the State Assembly has passed a resolution putting the spotlight on nonprofits as an economic power that uses that power for the common good. We congratulate all of the award recipients on being honored for the great work they do every day to make California a better place.”

OPCC is in its 52nd year and is headquartered in Santa Monica. It’s the largest social services agency on the Westside of Los Angeles. For more information, please visit opcc.org.
