will gather at Arlington West on Santa Monica beach CODEPINK has issued a call to women across the country, as well in this area, to take part in a celebration of International Women’s Day in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 12, at Arlington West Memorial, on the beach just north of Santa Monica Pier, from 2 to 4 p.m. Hundreds of women are expected to gather at the ever-enlarging field of crosses — created by Veterans for Peace to honor the American soldiers who have been killed in the Iraq War — to say “NO to War.” Artist John Quigley will create a new aerial image of the women and the field of crosses and photograph it from a helicopter. Women who want to be part of the image should sign up and note what country they will be representing. Musicians, artists and performers are invited to take part, and volunteers are being sought for the set-up and clean-up crews.
