Westside Teams End Seasons in Playoffs:

Most Westside baseball and softball teams have ended their seasons with some failing to qualify for the playoffs and others being eliminated in the first round.

But many did gain a playoff berth, which is the goal of most high school teams.

Girls

In softball, St. Monica lost a first round game to Cabrillo, 10-0, ending its season with a 12-11 record, including 3-5 in the Del Rey League.

New Roads eliminated Viewpoint of Calabasas in a first round game, 14-3, improving its overall record to 19-3.

Brentwood lost in the first round to Marymount, 7-3 to finish its season with a 10-10 record.

Boys

Crossroads earned a playoff berth but lost in the first round to Capistrano Valley Christian, 9-1. The Roadrunners finished with an 11-6 record.

St. Monica lost in the first round to Cantwell-Sacred Heart in Division 5, 8-0. The Mariners finished with a 13-11 record.

Malibu defeated Salesian in a wild card game, 11-5, then lost to St. Bonaventure, 11-0 to finish with an 11-14 record.

New Roads was scheduled against Cate, but the result wasn’t available at press time.

In the LA City Section, Venice defeated South Gate, 10-2 but was eliminated by Franklin, 8-3.

Palisades defeated Sylmar, 9-1 but lost to El Camino Real, 15-12. The Western League champions finished with an overall record of 18-12.
