The Santa Monica Police Department graduated Class 24 from its Citizen Academy, including Mirror staff writer Terence Lyons, shown here receiving a certificate and congratulations from Captain Jacqueline Seabrooks. The department offers the 12-week course twice a year, providing an inside look at the practice of local law enforcement. SMPD literature notes: “Citizen Police Academy classes are in no way designed to train participants to act as law enforcement officers.”
