Safe Ways To Celebrate The Men In Your Life This Father’s Day

Can you believe that Father’s Day is just a few weeks away? If you forgot, there’s no need to be ashamed. With the pandemic causing changes to everyday life once again, it’s easy for things to slip your mind. On the bright side, the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and loosening of past restrictions means you have more options to celebrate dad this year. Although things seem to be looking up, it’s still imperative to take precautions. Not sure how to pull it off? Continue reading for safe ways to say thanks to the men in your life.

Digital Love

If your dad or father-figure hasn’t been vaccinated, suffers from certain medical conditions, or lives far away, you can still find creative ways to show your appreciation. Technology can work wonders when you can’t be face-to-face with the ones you love. You can send them ecards, upload a Father’s day video, or use virtual conference software to make them feel special no matter where they are.

Fire Up The Grill

State officials have lifted capacity limits and other restrictions for restaurants and bars across the country. Though it might seem ideal to take dad out to his favorite spot for a bite to eat, be prepared for crowds. Since not everyone has received the vaccine yet, taking your dad, grandfather, or uncle to a restaurant is still risky.

Why not reduce the risk and fire up the grill for a Father’s Day barbecue? You can control the guest list and set the rules to keep everyone safe. Not to mention, you won’t have to worry about long lines and wait times. You can serve dad his favorite meal, engage in conversation, play games, and spend time with loved ones in the comfort of your backyard.

Take A Fishing Trip

What better way to spend time with dad than a fishing trip? After being cooped up in the house for close to a year, chances are he’d enjoy being out in nature on a boat with his family by his side. Fishing is also a safe activity since it’s outdoors and crowds are limited to boat size.

It’s an excellent experience for all ages. While adults might enjoy the peacefulness and nature of the sport, kids get a kick out of placing the bait, scouting for fish, and reeling in the big one. You can spend the morning fishing, then head back to the picnic area or your house to enjoy a nice meal together under the warm evening skies.

Family-Friendly Competition

Is your dad, grandad, or uncle a sports fanatic? Perhaps they just love any opportunity to stroke their ego and challenge people they know to a friendly game. Instead of taking them to a sporting event, which will likely be crowded and a bit risky, you can host a little event for the family. Whether they love baseball, basketball, football, or golf, all you need is the ideal open space, court, and equipment to have a good time.

Start by dividing volunteers up into compatible teams. Then, have other family members keep score and cheer you on from the stands. Of course, you don’t want to forget traditional stadium snacks like hot dogs, nachos, soft pretzels, peanuts, and cold beverages. Finally, come up with a reward for the winning team like a trophy, cool t-shirts, or even a gift card.

Fathers play a significant role in their family’s lives. More than providers, they add a sense of leadership, security, stability, and support to the household. A father’s love is unconditional and essential to a prosperous and fulfilling life. As such, you want to do what you can to show your appreciation. Though the threat of the pandemic seems to be subsiding, keeping dad safe should remain a top priority. By selecting one of the ideas listed above, you can ensure everyone stays safe while celebrating the men you love most.
