The Santa Monica Police Officers Association Endorses Santa Monica City Council Candidates

Association endorses Lana Negrete, Armen Melkonians and Albin Gielicz 

The Santa Monica Police Officers Association (SMPOA) has endorsed incumbent City Council member Lana Negrete, Armen Melkonians, and Recreation and Parks Commissioner Albin Gielicz for election to Santa Monica City Council.

 “We must elect policy makers that make public safety a priority, and Lana, Armen, and Albin are committed to providing the Santa Monica Police Department with the resources we need to keep our community safe,” said Gerardo Leyva, SMPOA President. “We all have choices to make this November, if feeling safe in our community is top priority for you, cast your vote Lana, Armen, and Albin.”

In a press release, the SMPOA applauded  Councilmember Negrete for working with residents “to activate public spaces to keep them clean and safe for local families and uses her role on the council to facilitate law enforcement and community connections.”

Armen Melkonians, the SMPOA said, “is committed to increasing police personnel to facilitate and increase the visibility of our officers.” 

In addition, the SMPOA noted that Albin Gielicz “shares Armen’s commitment to increased public safety funding and has pledged to create public messaging to deter crime in our community.”
