Samohi Orchestra Program to Host Annual Fall Benefit Concert

Audience Will Be Enchanted With Pieces From Movies Including Aladdin, Harry Potter and Howl’s Moving Castle

The nationally recognized and award-winning Santa Monica High School Orchestra Program is set to present its annual fall benefit concert, “Movie Music Magic,” on Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. The performance will take place in the historic Barnum Hall, located on the Samohi campus.

Under the guidance of Directors Jason Aiello and Jim Wang, the Sinfonia, Intermezzo, Philharmonic, and Symphony Orchestras will enchant the audience with pieces from beloved movies, including classics like Aladdin, Harry Potter, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Highlights from Studio Ghibli, among others.

The event promises a delightful experience for the community, featuring a bake sale offering both sweet and savory treats, a costume parade, opportunities to meet beloved movie characters, a raffle, and much more. This event welcomes the entire community, with a special invitation to children to come dressed as their favorite movie character. As a benefit concert for the Samohi Orchestras, it plays a crucial role in funding the program, which welcomes all interested students regardless of their experience or financial circumstances.

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District prioritizes music education, providing instruments and music instruction to all interested students starting in the fourth grade, continuing through their academic journey. The top orchestras at Santa Monica High School have graced world-class venues across the United States and around the globe. This program, celebrating its 120th year this season, is recognized as one of the premier programs in the nation.

Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. To purchase tickets, please visit: Ticket Purchase Link.

Concessions will be available starting at 5:30 p.m., doors open at 6:15 p.m., the costume parade kicks off at 6:45 p.m., and the concert begins promptly at 7 p.m.
