Wright Injured In St. Monica Defeat:

James Wright, St. Monica’s most productive football player in an opening game loss to St. Anthony, was injured on the first play of a 26-0 loss to Salesian Friday, September 14.

Wright suffered a foot injury and didn’t return to the game. His status is unknown for Saturday’s game against Malibu at St. Bernard High.

In an 0-10 season in 2006 St. Monica’s best chance for a win came against Malibu, which scored on the final play of the game in a 21-20 victory.

St. Monica’s deficit against Salesian was only 7-0 at halftime. But several third quarter turnovers took the Mariners out of a chance to win.         Quarterback Chris Lindquist completed five of 13 passes but threw three interceptions. St. Monica’s leading rusher was Derek Branch with 30 yards on nine carries
