Weekend-Long Lane Closures Will Affect Traffic Between Van Nuys and Westwood as Part of a $143.7 Million Pavement Improvement Project.
Caltrans has announced an extended weekend of major lane reductions on Interstate 405 through the Sepulveda Pass, warning drivers to expect significant delays and urging them to use alternate routes or public transit.
Starting at 10:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, the 405 will be reduced to three lanes in each direction for ongoing pavement rehabilitation work between Van Nuys and Westwood.

This is likely to be the only 405 closure for this project in November, as the next weekend falls during the Thanksgiving holiday, and CalTrans has already stated that they will avoid holiday weekends when there are likely to be large amounts of traffic.
Northbound I-405 Restrictions
- Reduced to three lanes between just south of the Getty Center Drive/Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp and just north of Bel Air Crest Road
- Getty Center Drive/Sepulveda Boulevard on- and off-ramps closed
Southbound I-405 Restrictions
- Reduced to three lanes between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive on-ramp and Getty Center Drive/Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp
- Getty Center Drive/Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp closed
- Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive on-ramp closed
Suggested Detours:

- To northbound I-405: Travel north on Sepulveda Boulevard, then east/north on Skirball Center Drive to access the freeway.

- To southbound I-405: Travel south on Sepulveda Boulevard and use the Getty Center Drive on-ramp.
The lane reductions are part of a recurring series of approximately 25 extended weekend closures planned over the coming months. Each round of work will target different segments of the freeway as part of Caltrans’ $143.7 million I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, which aims to improve safety, extend pavement life, and enhance traffic flow between Van Nuys and Westwood.
