Petitgrain Boulangerie to Host Massive Bake Sale Backing Food Forward’s Anti-Hunger Work

One-Day Event Will Offer Pastries, Breads, and Sweets From Celebrated Chefs, With All Sales Supporting Food-Rescue and Climate Efforts

Bakers from across Los Angeles are teaming up Tuesday for a one-day fundraiser supporting Food Forward, the nonprofit known for rescuing surplus produce and distributing it to communities facing food insecurity. Petitgrain Boulangerie will open its doors for the special event, hosting a large-scale bake sale on December 2.

Food Forward’s “Dine for Change” bake sale will feature pastries, breads, and confections created by more than two dozen local bakers, including Leah Chin-Katz (@DoubleChin), Sasha Piligian (@Sashimi1), and Aldis Arriola (@nourishthesoul.panaderia). One hundred percent of proceeds will go directly to Food Forward’s programs that fight hunger, prevent food waste, and reduce the climate impacts of discarded food.

Petitgrain organizers said the shop will be transformed into a collaborative marketplace of baked goods and edible gifts, with items ranging from loaves and croissants to cookies and specialty treats. Participating contributors include Nourish the Soul Panaderia, Double Chin, Sherry Yard, Carla Café, Diner Antonette, Doubting Thomas, Gelateria Uli, Ali Tila, Shannon Swindle/Funke, Felix, Tracy Saltzman, Rhubarb Cakes, Sweet Red Peach, Hasi Bread, Civil Coffee, Vidis.la, TCHO Chocolate, Truman’s Artisan Gluten Free Fonuts, Cadoro, and Anastashia Chavez.

Food Forward, which operates produce recovery programs throughout Southern California, says donations from events like Tuesday’s sale help expand its ability to move fresh fruits and vegetables to hunger-relief organizations and families in need.

The bake sale will be held at Petitgrain Boulangerie from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.on  Tuesday.
