Tell Them There’s Art, Food, Wine, and Music, And They Will Come:

Thousands of art lovers braved the torrential downpour and showed up at Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar for the opening night gala of the 13th annual Los Angeles Art Show. The evening’s proceeds were earmarked for the Art Museum Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for their upcoming spring exhibition, Phantom Sightings: Art After the Chicano Movement.

With over 125 art dealers from around the world displaying their collections, the exhibition, presented by the Fine Art Dealers Association, is said to be the largest and most comprehensive fine art show on the West Coast.

Art connoisseurs scoured the aisles in search of cutting-edge contemporary pieces by new artists as well traditional works by well-known artists.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa served as the event’s Honorary Gala Chair but, alas, was a no show, probably due to the inclement weather.
